Volunteers needed for Children’s Swimming Program in Vietnam
Do you hold AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety qualifications? Would you like to teach children to swim in Central Vietnam?
UNICEF statistics show that drowning is the number one killer of children under the age of 15 in Vietnam where on average 10 children drown every day. We run a charitable swimming program which teaches local children to swim. Over the past 2 summers we have taught 700 children in the town of Hoi An how to swim and the basic water safety skills to assist them in the event of them being in danger in the water.
We are looking for volunteer swim teachers to work on the program in 2010. Ideally we would want people to commit for a 2 month program however we would consider applications from suitable qualified candidates for shorter periods of time.
Program dates
Program 1: March – 30th April, 2010
Program 2: 1st May – 30th June, 2010
Program 3: July – 31st August, 2010
Hoi An is a world heritage site in Central
Vietnam. This would be a fantastic
experience for someone who wants to
use their swim teaching skills for a
charitable purpose in Vietnam.
Volunteers should hold an up to date CPR certification.
They should be enthusiastic, have a good rapport with children
and be keen to live and work in a foreign environment.
Any additional skills, particularly in teacher training and swim
program management are also highly useful.
